Answer #2

Annie wants to know: If one song could describe you ENTIRELY, what song would it be?

I have struggled with this one. Most of the songs that I really love just don't describe me. And most of the songs that describe me, at least in part, I really don't like. I think if I took several more days maybe I could come up with something a little more fitting. But, I like this song and it fits. I think it describes me fairly well. Not ENTIRELY, though. For it to describe me entirely it would have to be written by me.... and even then.... hey, I don't know everything about myself as it is! LOL LOL

So.... here it is. The lyrics are below the video. Remember to turn off the music on the sidebar.

"32 Flavors"
Ani DiFranco

Squint your eyes and look closer
I'm not between you and your ambition
I am a poster girl with no poster
I am thirty-two flavors and then some
And I'm beyond your peripheral vision
So you might want to turn your head
Cause someday you're going to get hungry
And eat most of the words you just said

Both my parents taught me about good will
And I have done well by their names
Just the kindness I've lavished on strangers
Is more than I can explain
Still there's many who've turned out their porch lights
Just so I would think they were not home
And hid in the dark of their windows
Til I'd passed and left them alone

And god help you if you are an ugly girl
Course too pretty is also your doom
Cause everyone harbors a secret hatred
For the prettiest girl in the room
And god help you if you are a Phoenix
And you dare to rise up from the ash
A thousand eyes will smolder with jealousy
While you are just flying back

I'm not trying to give my life meaning
By demeaning you
And I would like to state for the record
I did everything that I could do
I'm not saying that I'm a saint
I just don't want to live that way
No, I will never be a saint
But I will always say

Squint your eyes and look closer
I'm not between you and your ambition
I am a poster girl with no poster
I am thirty-two flavors and then some
And I'm beyond your peripheral vision
So you might want to turn your head
Cause someday you might find you're starving
And eating all of the words you said

So... what do you think? Fitting or not??

One of the fey - within the dark and gloom we'll find our way
One of the fey - we have a calling which we must obey
Here in our lives, supernature lives and breathes
Once in a while see your future in our eyes
Oh, we have magic in our lives
Oh, secret lives are charmed and wise
Drifting away, the shroud that blinds the soul is cast away
In joy and pain and dark emotions seek the inner flame
Caught in the light you hold them till they fade and die
Blessed with the sight your spirit soars to distant skies
Oh, we have magic in our lives
Oh, secret lives are charmed and wise
Oh, we have magic in our lives
Oh, in our eyes the moon shall rise
One of the fey, you feel a magnet pull you can't ignore
Finding the way, the path will lead you to the open door
Lost in a sea of busy times and mundane lives
In time we'll see future lies in open minds
One of the fey,we feel the magic through you counting day
Riding the wind, the path who'll lead you to the open door
Lost in a sea, busy times and mundanes lives
In time,we'll see the future lies in all that rise
Oh, we have magic in our lives
Oh, secret lives are charmed and wise
Oh, we have magic in our lives
Oh, in our eyes the moon shall rise
Oh, we have magic in our lives
Oh, secret lives are charmed and wise
Oh, we have magic in our lives and soul
Oh, in our eyes the moon shall rise
