The Breath of Fall

I remember when I was younger, waiting in the dark for the school bus to come and pick me up. My favorite days were the days when the weather was just creeping over into Autumn. Standing in the darkness, in the silence. Alone and at peace. Surrounded by crisp, cool air, fresh and invigorating. My breath like a fountain of mist drifting in the still air. Whenever I think of school I always remember those mornings. And whenever the weather starts to cool off I remember them as well.

Tonight it is int he 60s here which is practically freezing for the south! LOL Of course, it won't stay that way. In a couple of days it will be back to 90s in the day and 80s at night. We won't really get feeling like Fall until mid to late November.

But, for tonight, I feel the cool air and I remember.

Now, please excuse me..... I am going to go dance in the cool air and feel the breath of Fall on my body.

I struggle with fall, even while I enjoy it!
We getting our last few days of 80 degree weather now. By the end of September, we'll be lucky to hit 65.
Hope all is well with you!

This was always my favorite as well. I remember walking hand in hand with your father, kicking up the leaves as we walked. Enjoying the last of the warm weather, and soon we would be watching our breath as we exhaled and snuggled even closer. I am anxzious to be able to take cup of coffee out and sit on the swing and not worry about mosquitoes eating me alive!

Popped over from WWoW. I like your site.

Nice post. I am in Atlanta and it's finally cooling down here, too - highs in the 70's for a few days, yay! My son just asked me about Halloween this morning and I though yep, fall is in the air...

And don't forget the leaves bustling around on the ground.

I sat outside until 8:30 on Monday night enjoying the cool air. I just LOVE it!
