I am jumping on the bandwagon and planning to post my weekly menus here. We have decided to do weekly instead of monthly shopping and menu planning. As a way to keep better track of prices and what we spend. And also as a way to get better deals. DH is planning to help out with setting up a price guide.
So, this week I have lots of things still left in my freezer and my cupboards so I will be trying to use these up and spend less on actual groceries this week.
Monday - Pork chops with au gratin potatoes and green beans
Tuesday - Jambalaya with chicken and sausage, salad
Wednesday - Pot roast with veggies, homemade bread
Thursday - Grilled chicken with wild rice, gravy and peas
Friday - Leftovers
Saturday - Crock pot Vegetarian Pirogi Casserole, homemade bread
Sunday - Steak with mashed potatoes and corn, homemade rolls
So, I have ALL of the meat for this week in my freezer. I may need to pick up a few extra small steaks since we will be having company on Easter. The only things I need to buy for this week's DINNER menu are potatoes, carrots, celery, onions, salad mix and bow tie pasta.
Lunches and breakfasts are another matter entirely. I need to get several things for these meals. I also need to get eggs for Easter. And some kool Aid packs.
Right now, I have everything I need for Mon and Tues. I will do my shopping on Wednesday because DH is off of work. My list is:
10 lb bag of potatoes
3 lb bag of onions
1 bag of carrots
1 bunch celery
1 bag salad mix
Salad toppings
bow tie pasta
peanut butter
marshmallow fluff
strawberry jam
bread
milk
eggs
kool aid
soda
pepperoni
bananas
grapes
I may end up having to add some things once I think about it more. But, that looks like it for now. I will check my coupon stash and see what I might have for this week. I sure wish I could find more coupons for things like fresh veggies. That is always a big expense.
So, what are your menu planning ideas for this week?

Did you actually EAT chocolate Skittles? Now you've got me curious!!
Hallie :)
I have no menu plans this week. Not only do I have a ton of food that I really need to use up, I'm also looking at dealing with bills on a regular basis. :D I don't want to, but I need to suck it up and get them paid. I'm even starting to pay off one old bill each for the hubby and I so the creditors stop calling lol.
Looks like a good week. My only definite this week is Corned Beef & Cabbage today (kiss me, I'm slightly Irish), and going to a friend's house on Easter so I volunteered to bring homemade mac n cheese. Easiest stuff to make, and those two refuse to do it.. but LOVE the stuff!
People never cease to amaze me.. A LOT!
That is awesome! I felt inspired and actually started a menu for this week. Thanks for letting us all know about CVS too!
I need to make my menu. It was so relieving when I did it that ONE week.
Tortelini tonight. Possibly lentil soup this week. Maybe chicken soft tacos? I'm really more concerned about easter. Thankfully, the Behemoth is working out great. Assuming I do a ham sunday... I guess I'd be looking at twice baked potatoes (annie's favorite!) and/or turnovers next week.
I have been wanting to try and make jumbulya...jambylia? You know what I mean! :) But I have never even try it before....I will have to finally make it!
I have tried many time to do this menu planning and I cannot for the life of me do it! Everyday when dinner time comes around I say to myself "wouldn't it be so much easier if I could just stick to a menu". I never ever know what we are having until it is time to cook. Maybe I will try it out again!
Your menu sounds wonderful, can't wait to get there! Some nights I just eat a bowl of cereal and toast.
I love it when I have my week planned out. I haven't done that in a while though.
We had Irish Stew last night with Beer-Cheese Bread, and enough is left over that hubby and I can have it tonight and I can make the kids homemade chicken noodle soup and maybe some biscuits on the side and everyone is happy. Mmmm - biscuits!
The rest of the week? Hmmmm - nothing planned yet.
Long ago, when I didn't know how to shop at the ripe old age of 18 and had just gotten married, my sister-in-law taught me how. We made menus, such as yours for the week. I really need to start doing that again instead of just going to the store and grocery shopping willy nilly (haven't used that term in a while!). Somewhere along the way, I had just forgotten all about that sytem and I'm glad you reminded me!
