Summertime Blues

I'm alive. For any of the few of you who might still be paying attention to this blog, I am sorry I have not posted in so long. Processing all of the things going on with Braeden and his diagnosis has been difficult. Not to mention having a busy summer with no teen to help me out!

I am back, though. I have missed having this outlet for my emotions and writing. I need to reconnect with my bloggy friends and try to get myself back on an even keel. I have been so very focused on the children that I have let myself sink into obscurity.

This post is just to get my tippy toes wet. And I will be writing about the summer soon.

I know exactly what you are going through. I know it's devastating news to find out your child is on the Spectrum, but things will get better. My son was diagnosed when he was 2 & just celebrated his 8th birthday last week. He is on the higher functioning part of the spectrum, but that is due to a lot of work from everyone involved with him, from speech therapy, to school. He was totally non-verbal for his first 4 yrs, as well as not toilet trained. Now, he talks my ear off, but I never complain, he's making up for those years he couldn't talk. ABA is a very good therapy, but if you can find someone who does PRT, that's ABA kicked up a notch, way better.
I too, have been awa from my blog too these past few months, but I'm glad I'm back. And I'm also glad that you're back, too. :D

Welcome back.

This is nothing, and I am no one, but I'd like to say, I have had some experience with autistic kids. I think maybe you will find in your son, or maybe have already found, a peculiar poetry, a kind of minor key magic.

I mean this as a small comfort, a night light. I hope this comes across the right way.
